I am brain dead from a busy weekend...so you get to enjoy my rambling this morning. :)
1. Silas has ear infections AGAIN. Friday night we went to Dairy Queen (to enjoy their BOGO Blizzard deal!) and he was tugging at his ears...but so happy eating ice cream I thought, "Surely he doesn't have ear infections, right?" Welp, Saturday the ear tugging continued, along with mild fussiness. We took him to Urgent Care that night (the joys of weekend illnesses), and sure enough, double ear infection #2. It had only been six weeks since his last ones! Is Silas going to take after his daddy and get tubes in his little ears? :( Anyway, he's loving the antibiotics again. Kim, I took after you and started calling the medicine "candy." :)
2. Does anyone else's house always look trashed on Sunday night? The church-nap-church pattern we follow doesn't really lend much time for housekeeping I guess...
3. How do you all organize your pictures? I'll be honest, having a blog helps a ton with my motivation to 1)take pictures and 2) download them onto Nathan's Mac. When I upload pictures, I put all of them into a folder for the appropriate season (fall 2009, spring, 2010, etc). When the season is over, I go through the folder and upload into Shutterfly all the pictures I want to develop.
I know developing pictures on Shutterfly is more expensive than, say, Target, but my thought is that I'm about 20x more likely to actually DO it if I don't have to drive anywhere and can use a few clicks of the old mouse...
When I get the pictures, I put them in albums with space for journaling. (I used to like scrapbooking but it's WAY unrealistic for me at this point in my life...I'm too much of a perfectionist to be quick. So I think albums with notes are the perfect compromise.) All of our albums are chronological, which I love. The journaling is actually enjoyable for me, so this is a project I tackle quickly rather than letting it sit around forever.
4. Silas got another haircut tonight. (Number 6? 7? I'm losing count.) Nathan holds him on his lap, and they watch Looney Tunes on YouTube so Si holds still for me. Pretty effective, and fun for us to see those episodes we watched millions of times growing up. Every time he gets a haircut we think he looks dramatically older...Will try to provide a picture for your viewing pleasure later this week.
5. Silas is a celebrity at the grocery store. Last time, a lady who was probably 45 with a smoker's voice and very (ahem) immodest clothing came up to us and started petting his hair, telling me how beautiful he is. Then she told me she's trying to have another baby (her oldest is 24)! I told her "you go girl." (Seriously, I think I said those exact words. Not sure what came over me.) Then the Kroger staff flocked around him while I checked out at the register, cooing and tickling him. One of them gave him a balloon that said, "Happy Secretary's Day." He wasn't impressed; I think it's because he secretly knows how to read and thougth it was lame that she didn't give him something a little more appropriate. Do these random strangers touching Silas bother me? Nope. Does that make me a careless mother?
