birthday party #1

Silas turned one last Tuesday.  To celebrate, we went to the zoo as a family.  When we walked past the carousel, I just couldn't resist...

We started him off on the elephant, but that seemed a little extreme, so we switched to the Silas-sized cheetah instead.

Next we visited the rhinos...real and not-so-real.

Then we went to the petting zoo, where Silas enjoyed patting (yes, patting not petting) the goats.

At least, until this one snapped at him.  

Next, we headed home to get ready for the big party!  Silas actually kept his hat on the whole time, which I couldn't believe.

Mom and Dad were festive, too.

And so were our guests!  These are several of our closest friends in Louisville.

And Caroline, who let us know in no uncertain terms that this party was LAME.

I baked a cake...

We sang happy birthday...

Ate some cake...

And just had a good time. :)
