birthday party #2

On Wednesday, we journeyed home to celebrate Silas' first birthday with our families in Ohio.  (Nathan was on spring break from classes, so the timing happened to work nicely.)  Unfortunately, Silas was a grumpybum for most of the time while we were there.  The cranky mood may have been due to the shots he got on Wednesday morning (more on the ped visit later).  He had a fever and just didn't seem himself.  I'm wondering, though, if he's also cutting a tooth, since the crankiness has extended to this week (oh joy).

It was nice to be there midweek, when there wasn't much going on...more relaxing than most of our Ohio trips, for sure.  Wednesday evening we took Silas to get his pictures taken, Thursday we just took it easy, and Friday we had his big birthday shebang.

These first two are just me fooling around with Lisa's camera, which we're thinking about buying from her...

Mimi just couldn't wait for his birthday to give him one of his very educational presents.  He really liked it more than this picture communicates!

Great-great grandma Meredith came early to get some extra snuggle time with Silas.

And now for the party pictures!  Here are the honored great-great and great grandparents.  As you can see, Grandma Neva is simply delighted to be there.

The Mimi showering Silas with love :)

Silas didn't get into his cake as much as he did the first time...but he still enjoyed it!  I had even stripped him down to his diaper in preparation, but it turned out to be unnecessary.

Hooray for presents!

Silas LOVES his new books.  Shocker.

You got me clothes, Mimi?  Boring.  (Just kidding.  I really really wanted her to buy him clothes and not more toys.  Thanks, Mom!)

Checking out the books with Mommy.

Hanging out with Grandpa.

  1. Happy Birthday Silas!

Isn't it amazing how fast the time goes by?! Cherish each day and thank God for the amazing gift He has given you. I am astonished that God has given us the privilege to raise our amazing little boy and given us the chance to experience, on a minute scale, unconditional love.

We pray you have another amazing year with your boy!
