thankful for the messes

Our 18-month-old is a busy boy.  Not exactly mischievous, not a daredevil climber, just...busy.  But you won't hear me complaining.  I'm delighted to find Silas playing in the toilet.  It's thrilling for me to discover that he dumped our coin basket once again.  I love it that the tupperware crate in the kitchen is empty again about 5 minutes after I put everything back in.

Silas is faster, more curious, more mobile than ever before.  He is exploring, discovering, and testing the limits of his own body.  I pray that I never take these important milestones for granted, in Silas or in future children the Lord may give us.

(Don't worry...I discipline Silas for the toilet thing.  And throw his clothes in the wash and scrub his little hands.  After laughing at him.)

Here are some pictures from today...

This is what Silas did while I was in the shower.  (I remembered to make sure the lid was down this time...but later in the day I forgot and found him splashing away.)

This is usually what his room looks like.

I guess nothing looked good.

A nice little nature pile on my freshly swept patio.

And here's a video of the culprit caught red-handed.  Do you like the one-sock-with-no-pants look?  (Sorry the quality is so poor...I fixed it afterward, so hopefully future videos will be better!)

  1. WOW! Can he really open the fridge door by himself!!!!!! Hannah couldn't open it until she was well into her 2's and Calvin still can't unless he is pitching a fit and then he can muster up the energy. O, and the messy room...just wait until they are older and "set up" villages and towns with itty bitty microscopic toys EVERY were!! It does go by fast though, so do enjoy it:) He is cute:)

  2. No no, not by himself! I often leave the fridge door open while I'm in the kitchen...getting lazy in my pregnant state, I guess. :)
