I hope I'm not jumping the gun by saying this, but I think Silas is saying a few "words."
He is pretty consistent with saying "Dah" for Daddy (usually with prompting), and this morning I held up a banana and said, "What is this?" and he said, "Bah." (which we've been working on every day).
And very consistently, when asked, "What does the cow say?" Silas responds dutifully with a vibrating noise that sounds sort of like "Boo."
He's also picked up the signs for "Thank you," "cup," and "cereal" in the past couple of weeks, and he is trying to do the signs for "book," "help," and "shoes." All of these usually take some prompting.
His other signs have gotten way more consistent and he's using them all the time spontaneously now.

Awesome! I bet he's trying to say even more that you just haven't caught onto yet... sometimes it's really hard to distinguish between a babble and a word! And it's great that he's signing so much!
