We enjoyed hosting my brother, Justin, and his wife, Sara, this weekend. They are trying to figure out where they want to move this summer, and Louisville is one of their two main considerations. We tried to convince them to live here, but I am nervous that Nashville may win them over.
Anyway, it was a lot of fun to show them around town. We took them to Graeter's, one of my all-time favorite ice cream places. Their black raspberry chip just can't be beat.
I think they're at least impressed with the ice cream. :)
Unfortunately, I was really under the weather with allergies. I have discovered I am VERY allergic to Louisville. But it's not so bad I can't still enjoy some ice cream.
Silas didn't get any ice cream. But honestly, I don't think he cared much...
Okay, Louisvillians, help me out...I know Justin and Sara read this blog regularly, so please leave a comment telling them why they should move to Louisville! We really want them here!!!
(P.S. If you know of a Louisville job lead for a nurse or a business major who loves agriculture, feel free to let me know!)

The primary reason I love Louisville is that I feel it is the best of both worlds. I think it has a small town feel to it since it feels like practically everything is no more than 15 minutes away. I love its distinct areas -- Frankfort Avenue, Bardstown Road, St. Matthews, the parks -- and these are all really close to each other. I don't find Louisville to be "overwhelming" even though it's a city. That's what I mean by "small-town" feel. At the same time it is a city and has a variety of things to do and see. Jeff and I have been to some good plays, we've seen a couple great art exhibits at the Speed, and we love the variety of ethnic restaurants all throughout the city. I like the small individually owned shops that are just as easy to patronize as the chain stores are (two favorites are Scout and Les Filles Boutique). I love the abundance of farmers' markets in the area. I think those things wouldn't be as readily available in a small town.

Andrea, thanks for your comment! It actually made me realize that we need to start tapping into the theater and art opportunities in our great city. Would love to chat with you about specifics...also wanting to visit those two shops you mentioned!
ReplyDeleteGraeter's... Ironically enough, I just had my first Graeter's experience in Cincinnati on Saturday and got black raspberry chip ice cream. It is wonderful :)
