fabric projects for nitwits part II

Haha you thought I forgot, didn't you? :)

Not the case.  It's just that I've been...busy.  So here it is, folks, the second (and probably final) edition.

Boxes.

This first one was created to hold all of my plastic bags that had been previously shoved next to the fridge.

I just used an empty Kleenex box, cut the fabric to size, covered the box with Mod Podge, and wrapped the fabric around it, making sure to leave enough at the top to fold over.

Next I tacked this box:

I use this box to hold my sewing supplies.  As you can see, it's damaged on the corner of the lid.  At first I thought I'd cover the whole thing, but then I decided it would look cute to cover just the lid.  First, I used the lid to measure how much fabric to cut.  I basically just doubled the width of the lid and left a few inches at the top and bottom.

After cutting my fabric, I cut out the corners like so:

Next, I Mod Podged the whole lid and folded the fabric in.  Very easy.  Just make sure you really smooth out the fabric so you don't have unwanted wrinkles and bubbles.  I put more Mod Podge where the fabric came together to hold it in place.

The finished product.  I also used an orange marker to write "sewing" as the label.

  1. Jessica, adorable! I've never heard of Mod Podge, but it sounds like I need to check it out. And yes, I need a nice storage container to hold my many plastic shopping bags.
