- Teething. I'm positive he's getting some more, just not sure when they're going to break through. He's been fussy, doing these crazy faces where he wrinkles up his nose and sticks out his lips, and is constantly chewing on those fingers. We're really ready to see those chompers cut through.
- Sitting up much straighter in the shopping cart. This may not seem like a big deal for most babies, but our Silas has some trouble with his "postural muscles" (the therapist has a long word for these that I can't remember or pronounce) and so he often lounges back or to the side in his high chair, the shopping cart, the swing at the park, etc. rather than sitting up straight. BUT I have noticed in the past couple of weeks that he is doing much better at the store! He sits up and grabs onto the bar all by himself without prompting from me.
- Reading. Or rather, being read to. :) Every time we sit down with a book (including every night before family devotions), Silas starts signing "please" while doing this funny half-laugh-half-panicky-grunt sound which gets louder and more intense until we finally begin to read. It is pretty doggone hilarious. He loves to turn the pages and often claps during the book. When we say "the end" he begins to cry, so we either have to quickly grab another book or distract him with something else...
- Coming to Mommy. Silas is getting very good at obeying this command ("Come to Mommy, Silas!) and tummy scoots very quickly with a huge smile on his face until I scoop him up.
- Exploring. Just this past week or two, Si has figured out that he has the power to move from room to room. He is no longer a stranger to the kitchen or the bathroom--two rooms that held little appeal a month ago. This also means that instead of whining loudly when he gets lonely, he comes to find us. A blessing and a curse. :)
- Doing therapy with an exercise ball. He loves bouncing, practicing standing and "plopping," doing sit ups, and going upside-down.
- Expanding his diet. Silas now feeds himself bread, cheerios, cheese cubes, and chunks of banana. We've also started using a food mill to grind up whatever we're eating so he gets used to different flavors. Tonight he enjoyed some baked pasta with yogurt, tomatoes, olives, chick peas, and parmesan. YUM.
