ponte vedra beach

My job as an Assistant Conference Coordinator rarely dictates that I have to actually attend conferences. I'm grateful for this, because traveling a ton would be so tough if it meant spending time away from my boys.  But this month it worked out for me to bring my boys with me!

Nathan doesn't have classes this month and is busily reading ahead for the spring semester in order to make life easier when the baby comes. (Love that man.) So when my boss asked me to come to this conference in Florida, I was thrilled when she told me the boys could come along.  We stayed in a beautiful golf resort hotel (Sawgrass Marriott) and enjoyed lots of time together when I wasn't working.  The conference went really well; it was fun for me to actually see it come together for once.  My boss was so kind through it all, not pushing me too hard in my extremely pregnant state and making sure we were enjoying some special family time.  Silas was a grump for much of the time (cold+molars=tears), but that didn't put too much of a damper on our trip.

One thing that DID put a damper on our trip was a false labor scare...I was sure that my water broke early on Friday morning (day two of the conference).  We had to go to the hospital (with Silas) for half the day to make sure I wasn't in labor.  Without going into too much detail...tests were inconclusive, the doctor was puzzled, and finally she asked me, "Well, do you want to have the baby today, or do you want to go home?"  Duh.  So I was put on mild bed rest until my flight on Saturday.  I'm still not sure what happened, but I think it was probably a fluid leak that somehow sealed itself back up.  I am SO thankful I didn't have to have the baby in Florida, although it would have been quite an adventure.

Anyway, Silas loved our hotel room.  Here are some videos of his crazy self on Friday night (after the grumpy stage was over).

Nothing eventful happened after Friday, and we made it home safe and sound.  And now that we're back I wish my water would break FOR REAL!!!  37 1/2 weeks down, 3ish to go...
