Highlights from this week...
1. Cavities. We went to the dentist on Tuesday and discovered both Nathan and I have cavities. I have NEVER had a cavity before, so this is humbling news. (Nathan's cavity-free status bit the dust last year.) I'm convinced it's because I swapped out my milk drinking for water...And my body is using all its calcium to produce its own milk. Or maybe it's just because I floss only occasionally. :)
2. Christmas Shopping. A week ago at this time I had only purchased one Christmas present. But between shopping online, a Target run Friday, and a trip to the mall with my friend, Maghan yesterday, I am now all done!!! (Well, except for one teeny part of a gift I still need to pick up.) Now for the wrapping, which I LOVE to do!
3. Scrabble. Yes, we are nerdy. But we discovered some nerdy friends! We had Matt and Maghan Smethurst over for cookies, coffee, and Scrabble last night. We knew the Smethursts from DC; Matt did the internship at CHBC while Nathan was on staff at the church. But we didn't know them that well until we all moved here to Louisville. We have really enjoyed getting to know this fun couple who are so sincere in their love for the Lord! In God's providence, we joined the same church here, and now they even live in our apartment complex. Hooray for new friends!
Nathan starts his first J-term class tomorrow. It's a week long, from 8 to 5 each day. He's been reading all week in preparation. We also have a date planned for tomorrow night, just a quick coffee run. Thanks, Maghan, for watching Silas (again)!
Speaking of Silas, he just continues to be SO much fun, as you can see from the videos below. We are loving every new stage, but I for one am in no hurry for him to grow up...I'm pretty thankful he isn't mobile yet, because my lifestyle hasn't had to change too much. It's still really easy for me to work, cook, clean, etc. when he's awake. He is fully adjusted to no swaddle now, and he's back to taking super long naps. One cute new trick that I haven't caught on camera yet...He loves to touch Daddy's stubble and gets this real serious look on his face, grabbing Nathan's chin with both hands and just feels the scratchiness. It's sooo cute! I'll do my best to capture it on film this week. :)
Do you have any touch & feel books? Simeon really likes touching Josh's stubble, too, and last week was the first time he really enjoyed touching the different pages in a touch & feel book.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I floss every day :-) Last time I was at the dentist, I asked for extra floss. They were thrilled to give it to me!
