happy first thanksgiving!

To "kick off" Silas' first Thanksgiving, we went to go watch Dad play in the "Turkey Bowl" with a bunch of guys from Third Avenue. It was pretty chilly, but we bundled up, and the sun was bright and warm. At first I thought we might get bored, but then a few other wives joined us for some good conversation. Silas hated being outside at first (could barely move in his huge jacket and could barely see because of the bright sun) but soon he was smiling and jabbering away, enjoying watching the men run around. Nathan got two interceptions. Go Daddy!

Next we made the 5-hour trip to Archbold, Ohio to attend the Beck Family Thanksgiving. It was great to see everyone; Grandma Neva and Great-Grandma Meredith hadn't seen Silas since August. It was our first holiday together since Grandpa died, and he was certainly missed. I just kept thinking about how much he would have loved meeting his great-grandson...After stuffing ourselves, we played a rousing game of fast scrabble (of course).

Then on Friday we headed over to the Wilson Family Thanksgiving. Cousins Clair, Luke, and Zeb hadn't seen Silas since June, and they were completely obsessed with him...Here they are "helping" Nathan feed Silas.

On Saturday we got to see our good friends, Daniel and Ashley Schreiner! They live in DC, but Daniel's family lives in Louisville, so they were in town for the holiday. We are so blessed to still be able to see them occasionally and are hopeful that they'll move down here for Daniel to go to seminary someday soon. :) They're expecting a little boy bundle of their own in late January.

I just have to share the fact that Silas peed in his mouth while I was changing his diaper the other day and swallowed it. Isn't that the grossest thing ever? He got it all in his hair, eyes, and eyelashes too. I was just dying laughing...Oh man...Don't worry, I gave him some juice afterward to help him get the taste out of his mouth.

Nathan has taken his finals in Church History, Greek, and Systematic Theology. All have gone really well. Only one more to go, New Testament! Tomorrow night we're going out for coffee to celebrate while our sweet neighbor keeps Silas. Hooray!

  1. Peeing in his mouth... that is really gross! A friend of mine recently pointed out to me that it'll be fun some day for Simeon to be able to read what I write about him on our blog -- I hope Silas enjoys reading about this! :-)
