For those of you who don't know, my Grandpa Garold (dad's dad) passed away rather suddenly last night. It was quite a shock to everyone, but we are all praising the Lord for Grandpa's sure salvation. Nathan and I didn't think we would be allowed to travel to Ohio this late in the pregnancy, but our midwife practice gave us strong assurance that it is fine to make the trip. We are so thankful to be able to be with family during this time of sorrow/rejoicing.
I am deeply saddened that Baby ***** will never know his great-grandpa. Grandpa Garold was a man committed to his faith in Christ, an evangelist especially to those from other cultures. I have been so blessed by his open willingness to share with his family often about the things the Lord was teaching him. His expressive, tender-hearted ways contrasted beautifully with his strength and hard-working nature. Grandpa spoke often about the fact that every moment was a blessing from the Lord, especially in light of his bad heart that almost cost him his life a decade ago. He was ready to meet the Lord, and this is the way he wanted to go--suddenly, with dignity and without suffering. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and was filled with joy by the large number of believers in Christ among his descendants who have benefitted from his faithfulness to the Lord. I know he would have loved to be around to meet more of his great-grandchildren, and I weep to think he missed this one by just a week or two. But God is sovereign, and He is good. Praise God for his faithfulness and kindness to us! Praise God for the blessings he has bestowed on our little family through such a rich heritage!

essica,
ReplyDeleteI have been checking your facebook page more often than normal in anxious anticipation of hearing the news that your little one has arrived! The other day when I was looking I happened to notice that you have this blog! I must say I was pretty thrilled! You better believe I will be adding it to my reader and checking it often to see what you guys are up to and how things are going. :-) Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that the Lord gives you peace in thinking about labor and that He is kind to give you a quick and easy one, and if not that He gives you the strength to get through it. Being a parent is such a blessing and I am excited that the Lord has been so kind to give you and Nathan this child. I can't wait to meet him! :-)
Also, I am so sorry about the news of your grandpa. I am praying that the Lord gives you great comfort in the gospel during this difficult time. I'm thinking about you girl and can't wait to see more blog posts!
