Crazy for us to think that Duncan is already 5 weeks old. I still find myself thinking it's August. And it's like October. Right? Here's what Duncan is up to...
- Duncan had his one-month checkup on his 5-week birthday, September 22. He is 10 lbs 14oz (67th percentile) and 22 1/2 inches long (70th percentile). For kicks, I went back to look at Silas's one-month stats. He was 9lbs 8oz at 4 weeks (29th percentile). Ivy was 10 lbs 3oz at her one-month but only 11 lbs at her two-month. So Duncan is definitely the biggest of our three babies, and the best eater.
- Speaking of eating...he does have some pretty major reflux. Not projectile vomit like Silas, but constant spit-ups. Not as bad as Ivy, though. I remember her shirt was constantly soaked in milk, and his is only sometime soaked. :) He has usually 1 to 2 feedings a day where he really cries and is obviously uncomfortable. Thankfully the fussing is almost always limited to mealtime! The pediatrician started him on Zantac, so I am hopeful that we will see an improvement soon.
- Duncan has gotten much better at going to sleep in his bed by himself. There are times where I have to give up and wear him in a sling, but I would say at least 75 percent of the time he sleeps in his bed. Yay! Also...this little blessing is sleeping through the night!!! His first time making it all the way until his 6:30 feeding he was 4 weeks and 6 days. (Silas slept through at 5 weeks 5 days, Ivy at 4 weeks 2 days.) He has slept through every night since then!!!
- He continues to be the most alert of our three. He loves looking around and is a light sleeper...you might think he is asleep and then suddenly POP! go those eyes and he is more awake then ever. He sleeps with his eyes open a LOT, which is really creepy...Nathan says he gets it from me. Gross. That is embarrassing.
- Not a lot of hair going on...we definitely have the old man look at the moment. :) But I think it's much less awkward than Ivy's hair issues. Better to start out with none, I think. His acne is the least severe of our three, for which I am thankful! He just had that weird milia when he was born.
- Duncan is so sweet and very content as long as he is being held. When he cries he sticks his lower lip waaaay out, and it sometimes even trembles. So cute and heart-breaking at the same time. I can't wait to see what his little personality will be like!
Here are some recent pics. I just love the faces. :)

Yay for Duncan! I'm so glad to hear he's eating well! And I'm not surprised he's sleeping through the night - you are one blessed mama. :) So excited to meet the handsome man soon! (love his little shirt, by the way :)).
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a blessing that all three of your kids started sleeping through the night at 4-5 weeks old! Mason started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks old, and I thought that was good. But for all three of yours to do it--WOW! You're an awesome mama!
ReplyDeleteDuncan is adorable! Congrats again.:)
