a real-life celebrity

Around the time we came home from the hospital, Silas became semi-obsessed with his Papa (my dad).  I think it started with a book we have called Goodnight Farm, in which one page depicts a farmer waving from his combine in a wheat field.  Since my dad is a bona fide wheat farmer, we dubbed the man in the picture as "Papa."  Soon, Silas would rush through the previous pages in the book until we reached the combine page.  At that point he would start breathing rapidly, scrunch up his face with delight, and shriek with wild enthusiasm, "Papa!  Papapa!  Papa!"  Then he would wave his little hand at the farmer in the book.  Then, he would hurry to the kitchen, sometimes leading his lucky reader by the finger, to point at the photo of Papa on the fridge.  Sometimes, he would also go to our bedroom, where there is another picture of my dad from our wedding.  Needless to say, Papa had become somewhat of a celebrity in our home.  And the best part of all was that he showed up on our doorstep to spend 24 hours with his grandkids at the very peak of Silas' adoration.  I don't know how a man could have felt more loved.

Of course, Papa enjoyed his new granddaughter, too.

We also had a wonderful visit from Uncle Justin and Aunt Sara!

Hmm.  I think they look pretty good holding a newborn...
