Nathan and I had so much fun on our babymoon last weekend! After researching all of your recommendations, we decided that the Shipshewana/Middlebury area met our qualifications of cozy, cheap, and close to the family. We stayed in a cute B&B called Country Victorian Bed & Breakfast (would highly recommend it!).
Very old-fashioned and ornate on the inside:
The owners, Lori and Arnie, were born to host. They gave such great attention to detail and made our stay there completely comfortable and effortless. The breakfasts were AMAZING. Here you can see Lori's thoughtful place-settings...
Um, have you ever heard of a breakfast banana split? Yogurt, cornflakes, blueberries, bananas, whipped cream, and of course, a cherry on top. And that was just the prelude to the meal.
Our weekend included nightly movies with hot cocoa and cookies, sleeping in (when do I ever get to do that?!), listening to the charming clip-clop of horses outside our window, braving the snow to check out the Amish antiques and general store, hot cider, hand-rolled pretzels, and a leisurely Saturday nap. Sigh. I am so thankful for the good talks we had and for the relaxing time we got to spend together, just us. I love my husband.
Silas did great with my parents and his Aunt Lisa. I was a little emotional for my first time away from him overnight, but not too bad. Well, until we watched a certain movie on Friday night that included a little boy who had an uncanny resemblance to Silas...the first time he came onto the screen, I got a little teary. By the end of the movie, I was audibly weeping whenever I saw the kid. Sort of embarrassing. :)
Hehe, you're so cute, Jess. So glad you guys had such a nice time! Sounds like a wonderful babymoon. :)
ReplyDeleteI know you were on a babymoon and all but we live literally 10 minutes from there, haha. It would have been fun to see you. ;) Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteHa, no way! I see on your pofile that you live in Goshen; we actually considered doing dinner there on Saturday. :)
