adventures in the mall

So I went Christmas shopping on Saturday...just me and the belly, Silas stayed home with Nathan (thanks, honey!).  It cracks me up how comfortable strangers are with making comments to a pregnant lady.  Especially when she's by herself.

Stranger #1: Whoa!  When are you due, like tomorrow?!?  You look like you're ready to pop.

Me: Actually, I'm not due until February 5th...(thinking to myself, I still have 9 weeks to get bigger, lady)

Stranger #1: Are you sure they have the right due date?  There's no way you're going to make it that long.

Me: I think it's pretty accurate...and I was actually a week late with my first one.

Stranger #1: Well, bless your heart.  I hope you can make it.

Stranger #2 tells me that I'm having a girl "because it's just all out there."

Stranger #3, a sweet older Hispanic lady, told me in Spanish through her translator (her daughter, maybe?) that I am having a boy.

Stranger #4 gives me a little tap tap on the shoulder.  "Are you having a boy?  Because you're carrying really low."

Stranger #5, a young employee of New York & Company: "Awwww look at you!  You are just so precious!  Oh my goodness!  Ooooh, what are you having?  When are you due?"

Pretty hilarious.

And there were several other generic comments/questions not worth mentioning here.  No belly touching this time, surprisingly.

  1. You're good natured about it! Do you think you get more comments down here than you did in DC? I was so weary of being so big that when people said the same to me (in November, "You must be due this week!" when Rose came in January...) I was just so over it and annoyed!

My favorite was always, "Are you sure you're not having twins?" lol.
