Highlights of this past week:
1) Having our across-the-hall neighbor, Shirley, over for dinner. Tilapia, asparagus, corn-on-the-cob, Shirley's special chocolate pie, and lots of chatter. Shirley is a wonderfully sweet lady with a terrier she likes to call "Gandalf the Terrible" or sometimes "Gandalf the Lunatic". She is quite the storyteller and always says exactly what she's thinking. We loved getting to know her better!
2) Going out to Java, a coffeehouse just down the street. Our sweet friends, the Smethursts, graciously watched Silas while we enjoyed a lively game of Scrabble and some fantastic lattes.
3) Attending the World Festival in downtown Louisville. A little taste of everything...
4) Watching the first OSU football game of the season. Go Bucks!
5) Taking Silas swimming in our apartment complex's pool. Twice!
6)Visiting Auburndale Baptist Church, yet another gospel-preaching church with a very sweet congregation.
At the World Festival, we got to hear lots of music from different cultures. We really wanted to expand Silas' musical horizons by exposing him to very different genres, and we tried to gauge his reactions to the music to discover what his tastes are...haha...
Here we have some Haitian music.
Silas wasn't impressed, as you can see.
Waiting for the blues/jazz to start and eating some Asian chicken-on-a-stick, we decided to take a few pics by the bridge...
After waiting for like 20 minutes, they finally started. We were really looking forward to it, but I think Silas' reactions below demonstrate our disappointment...
Downtown Louisville is pretty cool. They have tons of horse statues all around the city. I like to call this one "Sparkles".
Nathan found a friend who seemed really interested in his view of God's sovereignty.
Silas got to see his first OSU football game! Sadly, he has no Buckeye apparel yet...We'll have to fix that at Christmas, right grandparents? :)
All ready to swim! He has no swimsuit that fits, and I decided not to buy one just for a single weekend, so...diaper it is!
Okay, he might not have LOVED swimming on Saturday...But he did love it today! Probably because there were lots of kiddos for him to watch. He kept smiling so big and waving his arms excitedly like he just couldn't contain his joy.
