The past few weekends, we have had great fun visiting college friends and introducing Silas. Two weekends ago, we traveled to Indianapolis, where Nathan's college friends had a reunion. I stayed with my college friends the Lindermans and got to meet up with a few other Taylor friends, too. We all had a great time revisiting old memories and making some new ones. Unfortunately, our camera died just a couple of hours after we arrived, so we were unable to document the trip properly.
This past weekend, my Taylor friends Deb and Jake got married. Hooray! It was so fun to see all the girls. What was not so fun was driving back to Louisville after the wedding and getting home at 2:30 am. However, we did make it to church the next morning...
It was definitely a priority for us to go to church even on little sleep, because we want to find a church to join as soon as possible! We believe that the church should be absolutely central in the life of the Christian. We also believe that church membership is important. It is so easy to fall into a general pattern of church attendance without being accountable to anyone or intentionally caring for and serving other members of a congregation. Church membership is a form of accountability and a unified covenant between believers. We recognize our own tendencies to stumble along in the Christian faith and desperately need others to come along side us in a very deliberate way! For more thoughts on church membership, go here .
Anyway, we visited 3rd Avenue and really muddied the waters. We love both Clifton AND 3rd Avenue and we have 3 more churches to visit. Sigh. A good problem to have, though.
We had a couple over for dinner tonight- the Smethursts went to CHBC with us and moved here this summer to attend seminary. It was wonderful to finally be able to have some sweet fellowship in our own home. They are a very sweet couple; we had a lot of fun!
One of Nathan's college friends had a little cutie pie of his own. Here is the "face-off".
Jackson trying to rip Silas' "face off".
Dad, this kid can't even do anything cool.
After his bath.
Aunt Jeanie holding Silas for the first time. We all went to the Original Pancake House for breakfast. YUM.
Deb's bachelorette party: Karaoke Bar. Lots of grungy-looking people with millions of tattoos singing (screaming?) songs (can you call them that?) with lyrics chock full of words like "death, Satan, kill", etc. The best part of the night was when Deb got up there to sing 'N Sync (big surprise there) and one of the grungy fellows enthusiastically joined her. I guess 'N Sync has fans of all kinds...
Aunt Nae at the rehearsal dinner.
Silas even got special attention from the bride herself!!!
The jumparoo always makes him happy...
The other baby is obviously "Jefferson Kip"!! I like the caption. What size clothes is Silas wearing now? How was your dinner with the Schrieners (sp?) What if you like all 5 churches equally well? A nice cunundrum to have. Hope to talk soon and see you on webcam.
ReplyDeleteIt's really been hot here. Love you all. Mom
