growing...

We've had a great week. I've slowly been able to add more social things to my calendar, and Silas is wonderfully compliant and portable. He especially loves the bjorn and the sling at this point. The reflux issues have continued, and I took him to the pediatrician yesterday. I'm not a huge fan of this doctor; he is waaay laid back, which is nice in some ways but annoying in others. He told me to wait two more weeks and observe Silas' patterns. If things don't improve, I will call in a prescription after that. It was fun to have him weighed while we were there! He now weighs 9 lbs. 8 oz., which means he is gaining well over an ounce a day. The doctor was pleased. Silas is only in the 29th percentile of weight for his age, though. I think this is because he is such a lazy eater...He's not very aggressive at mealtimes, and I still struggle often to give him a full feeding before he nods off. The doctor also said to leave the acne alone, not put soap or lotion on his face. This is what I have been doing. I finally noticed it subsiding yesterday, so I think it's on its way out. The picture below shows him toward the beginning of the breakout. It got much worse after this...
Nathan's cousin, Kristen, and her husband, Kevin, came to DC last weekend. We had a great time hanging out. Kristen, Silas, and I went to the Capitol and the Library of Congress- Silas' first field trips!

On another note, Nathan is preparing to preach sermons this Sunday morning (Psalm 18) AND Sunday night (Romans 15:8-9). Please pray that he would have wisdom as he prepares and that he would be faithful to Scripture, not striving to please his audience. Silas' Gjysha (Nathan's mom- Gjysha is the Albanian word for Grandma) is visiting tomorrow, and Nathan's sister, Lisa, and Grandpa Lugbill are visiting this weekend to hear Nathan preach.

  1. Oh Jess, he is so handsome!!! I love that little face. Brooke had reflux starting around a month and it tapered off around 4 months. We used Prevacid to get it under control and it was a LIFE SAVER. She also slept upright in her swing. Enjoy him, he is precious! I look forward to reading your blog and watching him grow.
