at the races

What better place to spend a hot, sticky Saturday afternoon than Churchill Downs?  We got in free unexpectedly, so we even splurged on some hot dogs and cheese fries.  (Food may be my favorite part of all sporting events.)  Here we are in front of the famous Twin Spires.

 Silas loved everything from the live music (and crazy old people dancing) to the cheese fries to the horses themeselves.  He even clapped along with the crowd after witnessing his first race.  And Ivy seemed to like it, too.  At least, she seemed very happy and even caught a snooze amidst all the commotion.

Nathan tells me this jockey won the Derby three times.
