ped reports

I understand that probably only the grandparents read these...but they're helpful for my own record-keeping as well!  I would never be able to compare Ivy and Silas if not for my blog posts.  It's amazing how quickly I forget details about Si's babyhood.  Anyway...

Silas had his two-year check-up.  No shots (yay!) and he weighs 26.5 pounds.  He jumped up from the 10th to the 30th percentile since his 18-month and gained 4.5 pounds.  Not surprising to us, since it feels like he's a solid chunk of kid nowadays.  He is 32 3/4 inches tall, the 15th percentile for height.

At Ivy's one-month check-up she weighed 10 lbs 3 oz (75th percentile) and was 21 3/4 inches long.  At her two-month check-up she weighed 11 lbs (50th percentile) and was 22 5/8 inches long (55th percentile).  I was a little worried about her slow weight gain, but the doctor wasn't at all.  He said that she looks great and it's hard to argue with the fact that she's sleeping 8 1/2 hours at night.

Ivy still has gassy feedings a lot, where she'll arch her back and cry, unable to get a full feed.  She's usually very sootheable afterward and will even sleep through to the next feeding.  I asked Dr. Sturgeon about it, and he encouraged me NOT to try eliminating things from my diet or go crazy with home remedies....Basically, he said, babies have gas.  It'll probably get better in a month or so, but for now it's just the way it is.  I appreciated his honesty and was relieved not to have to try a whole bunch of different solutions.  He said that if she was crying all the time and driving us crazy it would be different...but we're all pretty happy, really!

In other news, Ivy is holding her head up well and has rolled over from tummy to back a few times.  She still enjoys her pacifier during wake time, but I don't give it to her for sleeping.  She is smiling a TON and is cooing quite a bit now.  She is very responsive to her environment and continues to be a bit more particular than her brother.  It's hard to believe our sweet girl is already 2 months old!
